I really want to be more productive with my time. Every now and then, a class gets cancelled and I don't have to teach. I usually spend that 40 minutes on facebook or talking to friends on AIM. I really need to be more motivated to use that time to learn Korean. I have a long list of vocabulary I'm trying to memorize, but everytime I open my book, my hand starts typing http://www.facebook.com/ on the computer.
This semester, I also have 3 new classes that I teach textbook-less. That means the class should be educational and fun at the same time. This requires a lot more thinking cells that I don't usually have after a long day of teaching. It's also very difficult to think of fun activities when my students cannot spell, write, or form simple sentences. I also teach 2 afterschool classes on Wednesday. One class is for 1st and 2nd graders and another for 3rd and 4th. I DO NOT enjoy the 1st and 2nd graders. Keeping them seated is a major problem, but the biggest problem of all is that they have no idea what I am saying. It's very hard to give directions when they don't understand. I'm frustrated when they only reply and speak in Korean and they're frustrated that I'm only speaking English. I only had one class with them so far, so I better step it up and make my lessons suitable for their English abilities (or lack there of).
In April, I will also teach an International Culture class every Friday to 3 class of 1st graders. I don't even want to think about it yet. Oh dear Lord, give me strength.
