So today I saved a boy's life. Well, not really, but I did save him from getting a few bruises. I'm teaching 5th graders this week for Winter Camp and there are only 11 students. Usually there are 30, but only certain students sign up for Winter Camp since it's still their vacation. It's great having so little students again. I feel like I can actually teach without stopping every 5 minutes to tell someone to be quiet. Well, anyway...back to the original story. So this morning, I walk into the classroom and immediately all the girls are rushing up to me. They were just saying, "Teacher! Fighting!" I look around and one girl was holding a chair up above her head ready to hurl it at one of the boys. She was crying and sobbing and yelling at him in Korean. The boy of course is a troublemaker (I don't know why I like him though, he's a pain in my ass) and he was saying things to her which I'm sure were not so nice. I just told everyone to sit down, but the girl throws the chair towards him, but misses. Okay, so this fight was more serious than I thought. She picks up another chair and I drag her back, except she is freaking furious and she is STRONG! She wants to kill him!! So even as I drag her back, she throws another chair at him, but misses again. As she is still being dragged and while I keep yelling at her to stop, she still picks up another chair and just throws it down. HARD. Then I start laughing silently because the boy just stood there with his middle finger up at her. I didn't even get a chance to yell at him because I am still trying to drag the girl away from him. This is a freaking circus and all the other students were the audience. I pretty much had to wrap my arms around her to get her out of the classroom and as we made our way downstairs to the Main Office, all she did was cry and tell me what the boy did to her, in Korean of course. So I let the Korean teachers handle the situation and returned back to my classroom where all the students showed me one of the cracked chairs. All in all, it was a way to wake me up and a good 15 minute of not having to teach. The boy was later sent down to the Main Office and we all saluted him and told him good luck because he was pretty much gonna get a good yelling. I'm sure he's used to it though. They both came back 20 minutes later and everything was fine. The kids fight too much but in the end, it's all forgotten. So it was an interesting morning.
