During the orientation, all 500 SMOE teachers were quarantined in a university. We had temperature checks everyday and also a medical check. During day 3 or 4 of the orientation, I thought I had swine flu. I had a runny nose, sore throat and a minor headache. I was scared. Maybe it was paranoia since we were all stuck in the same place without outside access and there were people who were sent to a nearby motel when they complained about having flu symptoms. I actually thought I had swine flu and thought I would be sent back to the States. I guess I just had a regular cold.
Swine flu is very big here. People are scared. A lot of my students wear masks and we still have daily temperature checks. It's crazy. Just craziness. I hope it all dies down soon.
